New York, NY - In a move that will significantly strengthen the metropolitan region's ability to protect its airports, 4D Security Solutions, Inc., the nation's innovative homeland security systems provider, will design, integrate, test and install the technology required to implement the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's integrated Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) for the area's four airports:
- John F. Kennedy International
- LaGuardia, Newark Liberty International
- Teterboro
4D is a major subsystem provider on this Raytheon Company-led team effort.
4D will supply the team's Intrusion Detection Systems, including its proprietary, advanced sensors and multi-sensor fusion engine software; the Assessment Subsystems, which includes camera contention management capability; and Facility Communications Subsystems for complete site management at the airports.
In order to meet the immediate and demanding needs of the Port Authority, 4D will provide the security upgrade plan with technology that will proactively deter, delay, assess, and track potential or actual security breaches. This world-class systems solution will greatly enhance the efficiency of security personnel in responding to intrusions and provide a high level of protection for persons and property within the control of the four New York and New Jersey area airports.
PIDS, (Perimeter Intrusion Detection System) the first large scale, fully integrated design-and-build project at any major domestic airport, is a comprehensive system that fuses information from an array of different sources: cameras, radars, and sensors, and presents them to police and security forces in a way that helps them identify the greatest risks to the airport and act on them decisively.
The system is comprised of ground surveillance radars, video motion detection cameras with integrated tracking, and smart fencing, allowing individual sensors using different sensor technology to provide critical information to a computer system that can then assess the collective data in real time. The system provides overlapping coverage in critical areas, providing high probability of detection, and maintaining a low false alarm rate.
PIDS creates a safety zone around commercial airports and allows security staff to make decisions about potential threats much faster. The system achieves this by detecting, observing, assessing, and tracking intrusions to secure areas and aiding airport security personnel in dispatching the appropriate response to the intrusion.
4D Security Solutions, Inc., a premier homeland security systems provider, is a leader in intrusion detection systems, assessment management systems, and facility communications systems for the homeland security marketplace. 4D is a privately held corporation with headquarters in New York City and engineering facilities in South Plainfield, NJ.
